How Takeeto handles study data and supporting services.

Last updated: June 5, 2026

1. Who We Are

Takeeto is provided by Rodney Johnson.

  • Website: https://takeeto.com
  • Support email:

2. Overview

Takeeto is a Spanish-learning app for iPhone. It uses structured sessions, notifications, lock-screen surfaces, pronunciation playback, Verb Yourself review, progress milestones, optional custom item import, and optional subscription features.

We try to collect as little personal information as practical while operating the app and supporting services.

3. Information Stored On Your Device

Takeeto stores study data locally on your device. This may include:

  • session setups
  • saved decks
  • generated session decks
  • learning progress and session history
  • user-added custom items
  • badge progress and milestone state
  • app preferences
  • notification, Lock Screen, and Live Activity preferences
  • a locally generated random device identifier used by the app

4. Information You May Choose To Add

You may add your own learning items by typing, pasting, or importing text from a photo. Custom items you save are stored locally on your device as part of your study library.

5. Permissions We Request

  • Notifications: used so active study sessions can continue when the app is in the background.
  • Camera: used only if you choose the photo-based item import flow.
  • Photo Library: used only if you choose to import text from an image.

6. Photo Text Extraction

When you import text from a photo, Takeeto uses Apple's on-device Vision framework to recognize text when available. The current OCR flow is designed to run locally on your device.

7. Lock Screen Widgets, Live Activities, And Shared App Storage

If you use Takeeto's lock-screen or Live Activity features, the app stores a small study snapshot in an Apple app-group container shared between the main app and its extension surfaces.

That snapshot may include study-preview information such as the subject name, card prompt text, optional translation or support text when needed for the surface, and simple progress counts. This data stays on your device and is used so those surfaces can render without a separate account backend.

8. Network Requests And Third-Party Services

Takeeto uses limited network requests for media and app support features.

  • Pronunciation audio: the app may fetch pronunciation manifests and audio files from developer-controlled DigitalOcean Spaces endpoints.
  • Deck-passage audio: the app may fetch deck-passage audio manifests and audio files from developer-controlled DigitalOcean Spaces endpoints.
  • Deck-passage PDFs: the app may download printable deck-passage PDFs from developer-controlled DigitalOcean Spaces endpoints.
  • Card illustrations and share-card assets: the app may fetch illustration or share-card image assets from developer-controlled hosted endpoints.
  • Reader examples and supplemental curriculum: the app may request Reader usage data or supplemental curriculum data from https://takeeto.com support endpoints.
  • Remote configuration and messaging: the app may talk to a developer-operated control plane hosted at https://escapespeed.net.
  • App Store services: purchases, subscriptions, and payment management are handled by Apple.

9. Remote Configuration And Optional Usage Events

The control plane may deliver feature flags, content visibility, behavior defaults, notification copy, announcement cards, and offer or paywall copy.

When the app refreshes remote configuration, the control service may receive the app name and environment, app version, platform, locale, timezone, a locally generated random device identifier, and subscription-access state flags.

When telemetry is enabled in the active app configuration, the app may also send a small set of product-usage events such as app open, app backgrounded, session start, and session end, along with limited event context like platform, app version, locale, timezone, country or region, session identifiers, locally generated deck or lesson identifiers, subject key, session mode, and event timing.

We use this information to operate the app and improve the product. We do not use it for third-party advertising.

10. Badge Sharing

Takeeto can generate share cards for earned milestones. The image is rendered locally and is only sent elsewhere if you choose a destination through the platform share sheet.

11. Subscriptions And Payments

Takeeto may offer optional auto-renewable subscriptions and other in-app purchases through Apple's App Store billing system.

  • purchases are processed by Apple, not directly by us
  • we do not receive your full payment card number or full billing details
  • the app may read local StoreKit transaction or entitlement state on your device to determine whether paid access is active
  • the current version does not require a separate Takeeto username or sign-in to use paid access

12. What We Do Not Currently Offer

  • a required account sign-in system
  • in-app advertising
  • a third-party advertising SDK
  • public social-networking features

13. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information.

In the current version, the app's direct third-party or hosted-service interactions are limited to Apple, developer-controlled hosted media and asset endpoints, takeeto.com support endpoints, and the developer-operated control-plane service.

14. Data Retention

Study data stored by the app remains on your device until you delete it in the app, reset learning data in the app, or uninstall the app.

Control-plane caches, downloaded media caches, and queued telemetry may remain on the device until refreshed, replaced, removed by the app, or deleted with the app. Remote service providers and the developer-operated control service may retain standard operational logs and received event data according to their own retention practices.

15. Your Choices

  • decline notification, camera, or photo-library permission
  • avoid photo-based import
  • avoid Lock Screen or Live Activity features
  • avoid sharing badge cards
  • avoid purchasing paid access and remain on the free tier
  • cancel subscriptions through Apple's subscription management tools
  • delete custom items you added
  • reset your learning data in the app
  • uninstall the app

16. Children's Privacy

Takeeto is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children through an account system in the current version.

17. International Users

If you use Takeeto outside the United States, please understand that app resources and supporting services may be operated from other jurisdictions.
